f&dt: about us

Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?

Who?

Eating and drinking is our first love at food&drink towers, which was established by Helen Lewis, a trained journalist and experienced food&drink writer. We are passionate about making life easier for all involved in the media side of things, including ourselves!

What?

One September afternoon we ‘brainstormed’ a few adjectives to describe food&drink towers. It was sunny and we admit the wine was flowing, but you’ll get the general gist…

  • Young
  • Fresh
  • Vibrant
  • Fun
  • Relaxed
  • Professional
  • Down-to-earth
  • Ambitious
  • Creative
  • Dynamic
  • Foodies
  • Full of beans

Where?

f&dt is based in the south-east of England and the majority of our events are based in London, however, we aim to provide a UK-wide perspective and attract visitors from around the world.

When?

The face of f&dt, i.e. our shiny new website, launched in October 2006 following nearly two years of planning, scheming, plotting, dreaming and sheer hard work.

Why?

Well, why not?

Helen Lewis began working in the world of food&drink media in 2001 as Head of Publishing for a leading B2B publishing company specialising in food&drink. In 2004, Helen left to become a freelance writer for clients including The Grocer, Just-Food.com and Just-Drinks.com. It soon became clear to Helen that journalists, PRs and producers want to communicate with each other but it’s not always as easy as it should be. So, we’ve opened the doors to food&drink towers with the aim of making life much more effortless for everyone involved in the UK food&drink industry: journalists, PRs and businesses.

How?

We guess you’d rather know how the site can work for you and your business, rather than the techie-behind-the-scenes details about starting a new business or launching a website.

First things first: if you’ve not already registered, go to the homepage and sign up right now to start making the most of f&dt. The site is divided into three main sections:

As a journalist you are directed straight to our press release archive page from the f&dt homepage. Search through the f&dt vault for all our press releases. Or, head over to the news, views and reviews page, where you can check out the daily UK food&drink news stories, regularly updated features, top 10 feature ideas and new product reviews.

PRs head to the press release upload page, which is a free (no strings attached) service for all registered users. Within 24 hours your story will be hosted online at food&drink towers and distributed, by us, to food&drink journalists.

Businesses are encouraged to visit our services page, where you can find out more about how f&dt can help your company get the media coverage it deserves. We offer a whole host of services including press releases, copywriting and photography.

f&dt : business

Foodies are defined as people obsessed with food&drink. We’re pretty sure we qualify for that title but we’re also trained journalists and PR specialists. Here at f&dt we’re lucky enough to indulge our passion by working with foodies on a daily basis. We offer an entry level PR service for small food&drink companies and we’ve got a soft spot for start-ups looking for their slice of the media pie. Choose from our ‘Splash’ or ‘Spotlight’ packages, or tailor-make your own PR agenda by cherry-picking one or more of our services. Fancy finding out more?
